PlayStation VR (PSVR) refers to the virtual reality platform developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for its PlayStation consoles. The original PSVR system launched in 2016 for the PlayStation 4, offering a relatively accessible entry point into console-based VR gaming. It utilized the PlayStation Camera for tracking and PlayStation Move controllers or the DualShock 4 controller for input. In early 2023, Sony released its next-generation system, the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2), exclusively for the PlayStation 5. The PSVR2 represents a significant technological leap over its predecessor, featuring higher resolution OLED displays with HDR, inside-out tracking (eliminating the need for an external camera), advanced eye tracking, headset feedback (haptic vibrations), and new Sense controllers with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This allows for a more immersive and intuitive VR experience. The PSVR platform boasts a diverse library of exclusive and third-party titles, ranging from action-packed adventures and racing simulators to unique experiential games. Sony continues to support the PSVR2 with new game releases and system software updates throughout 2025. This tag covers all news, game announcements, hardware information, and discussions related to both the original PSVR and the current PSVR2
