Analyst Suggests Microsoft May Bring "All Their Major Games" to PS5
A video game analyst predicts that 2025 could mark the year Microsoft fully commits to its multiplatform strategy. According to industry veteran Serkan Toto of Kantan Games, Microsoft may significantly increase the availability of its Xbox titles on other platforms, including the PlayStation 5. Although Microsoft has already started releasing some games on competing systems, Toto believes the company is poised to expand this initiative in the coming year.
Toto explained in an interview with GI.biz that this move could be motivated by several factors, such as financing its substantial acquisition of Activision Blizzard and addressing the "huge lead" held by PlayStation in the market. This could include popular franchises like Gears of War: E-Day or Perfect Dark.
In early 2024, Microsoft caught many off guard by revealing that some of its first-party games, such as Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment, would be available on other platforms. Prior to this, Microsoft was already recognized as a major publisher on PlayStation and Switch, largely due to the success of the Minecraft series. Additionally, with Call of Duty now under the Microsoft banner, the company continues to release the franchise on PlayStation systems.
Looking ahead, one of the significant Xbox titles set to arrive on PlayStation is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, scheduled for release on PS5 in Spring 2025. Furthermore, there are ongoing rumors about a potential remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved that might be released for PS5.
